About: PG Diploma

A postgraduate diploma may be a shorter qualification than a masters degree, although at an equivalent academic level. Whereas a masters degree is formed from 180 credits (taken from exams, assignments, then on), a postgraduate diploma is 120 credits.

There is a shorter version of this too – a postgraduate certificate, which is 60 credits.

There is a spread of courses that come under the heading of a postgraduate diploma – it is often a vocational course, like a legal practice course, or a tutorial course.

PG Diploma: Academic Courses

With academic courses, the main difference between a pg diploma course and a masters degree course is that a pg diploma doesn’t involve having to do a dissertation. You will be most likely assessed by exams, assignments, work regarding course, or a combination of all of these.

Apart from this, you can expect the level of work required to be similar to other postgraduate courses, especially in terms of content.

PG Diploma: Vocational Courses

With vocational courses, It totally depends on the subject, but the intent is that it will prepare you for a career in that particular field, so postgraduate diplomas in areas such as business, marketing and so on will be both theoretical as well as practical.

PG Diploma - MBBS courses in India

There is a list of 8 Diploma Course Post-MBBS course (two years) which is recognized by The Board of Governors of the Medical Council of India. These courses are offered by the NBE (National Board of Examinations).

Introducing new Diploma Courses Post MBBS has been considered a great success by the authorities because it will bring more specialist seats within the PG medical colleges.

To fulfill the demand of specialist doctors in rural as well as somewhere in urban hospitals, the Centre has revived PG Diploma that one can only pursue by cracking the NEET-PG exam after finishing MBBS.

Hospitals with a min. of 100 operational beds are eligible to hunt accreditation with the NBE (National Board of Examinations) for the diploma courses.

With the grant of recognition, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) will now be providing 2-year post MBBS Diploma Courses announced by the official notification.
